Cedie Lynn Mock's Blog

Cedie Lynn was born on 6/16/05 in Memphis, TN. She arrived 6 wks early. Cedie spent the first 11 & 1/2 months in the hospital. Although she endured many surgeries and spent 2/3 of her life in hospitals, she was a very happy, beautiful little girl who was full of love and who was loved by everyone who met her in person and online. She now watches over all of us as our own little angel.

Tuesday, 5/9/06 - EMG

Cedie had a pretty good day. Not all of it was fun but we made some progress. On Monday, a neurologist came to see her. After his exam, he concluded that she did NOT need the muscle biopsy. He proposed an EMG be performed to prove that her muscles/nerves are normal. So, today during rounds (around 2:30 pm) her pulmonologist ordered the test. As soon as our nurse got the order she called to see when the test could be done. The neurologist was not sure when he would have time. However, being the persistent nurse she is (THANK YOU!!!) she convinced the doctor to stay late and do the test today. He actually stayed passed 5pm just so that he could work Cedie in.

The EMG went good. (If you want to know what an EMG is: go to http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003929.htm) We were able to conclude that Cedie's muscles and nerves were NORMAL (isn't that nice for a change :) ). So it looks like we will not be doing the muscle biopsy, just the lung biopsy. This also means she will have one less scar to deal with!! YAY!!!

Surgery was waiting on the muscle biopsy order before they would schedule the surgery. Now that this is settled, we should be able to get a date for the lung biopsy.

The pictures at the top of this post: Child Life services gave Cedie a present today. She got a My Little Pony set. It came with a regular size pony, a baby size pony and accessories for their and/or her hair. It also had stick on ear rings! I have been debating whether or not to pierce Cedie's ears so I decided to try these fake ear rings. Aren't they adorable???

Cedie was so tuckered out from the EMG and playing with her new toys that she passed out early! I tucked her in and got this cute picture of her sleeping with her favorite doll before I left. She never knew I was gone!
