Cedie Lynn Mock's Blog

Cedie Lynn was born on 6/16/05 in Memphis, TN. She arrived 6 wks early. Cedie spent the first 11 & 1/2 months in the hospital. Although she endured many surgeries and spent 2/3 of her life in hospitals, she was a very happy, beautiful little girl who was full of love and who was loved by everyone who met her in person and online. She now watches over all of us as our own little angel.

9/18/06- No Longer the Perfect Patient

Today we had an appointment with Cedie's endocronologist. He is following her hypothyroidism as well as her growth delays.

Cedie was in a good mood until I laid her on the scale. She threw a big fit. She was good when I picked her up but then I had to place her on another table to measure her length-she hated that too. (Her weight at the last visit-7/18/06- was 6.5 kg and this time it was 6.45, her height was 59 cm and is now 60 cm).

Once we were put in the room, she immediately started holding me tight. The moment I laid her on the table she threw a HUGE fit. Not even the paper on the table interested her. I picked her back up and we played until the resident came in. Cedie did not like her. She showed the doctor that even kiddos with trachs can scream and carry on :-) She was a little better with her regular endocronologist, but not much. Normally, Cedie is very friendly with all the doctors and she normally doesn't mind these appointments. I think she is still not over her shots from a couple weeks ago.

We talked about Cedie's lack of growth. Not only has she not gained in weight or height but her "soft spot" has not started closing like it should. They took some blood samples (which I am sure did not help Cedie's new fear) to check her growth hormone levels. We will also have to go back to LBCH for a 3 hour metabolic test soon. Most likely, Cedie will have to start growth hormone therapy.

Her thyroid levels, on the other hand, were good and we won't have to re-evaluate them for 3 months.
